We have a new face on the farm! This one is not a baby calf…
For months, we’ve been looking for somebody to fill a lot of roles. Somebody capable of mending fences and caring for cattle. Somebody who can handle the early mornings and late evenings. Somebody who can manage grazing and feeding, as well as knowing what the soil and the grass need to thrive.
That was the easy part.
The hard part was finding someone who could provide a great customer experience. Somebody with an entrepreneurial mindset. Somebody who could handle business decisions while managing farm problems. Somebody who believed in what Hi Brau stands for.
We found just that and more in Daniel Nicholson.
Just about the only way to find somebody who has what it takes to live our lifestyle is to find somebody who grew up doing it themselves. Daniel has been farming since 2002, when his father bought him his first goat…in second grade. Daniel attended Clemson University where he studied Agricultural Education, but has not stopped farming since second grade. Daniel has built his farm into a diversified operation that includes cows, pigs, goats, vegetables, and more. He’s also grown his family to include his lovely wife Madison, and their precious daughter, Rylan.
Daniel’s passion around here is raising cows, and you can often find him checking the herd, moving them to fresh grass, taking care of the lifeblood of our farm (the pastures), and generally doing whatever needs to be done with care and efficiency. He already has a business mindset. He’s even got his own YouTube channel (@NicholsonFarms) where you can follow his adventures doing what he loves. He may even inspire Hi Brau to start their own channel one day!
You may see Daniel’s name on your beef shipment or his smiling face at weekly pickups. Make sure to welcome him! We’re certainly lucky and proud to have him as part of the Hi Brau team.
